Wallstone, Boulders and Flagging:
- Drywall Stone: 12 to 15 face feet per ton (1 ton will build a wall
approximately 1" x 1" x 15")
- Boulders for retaining: 4.5 face feet per ton
- Boulders range 175 to 200 pounds per cubic foot (A rounded boulder
2" x 2"x 3" will weigh approximately 1 ton = approximately
10 pcs/truck load) To estimate the weight of an irregular boulder, multiply
the 3 largest dimensions in feet. (ex. 2"x 2"x 3"
= 12 cubic feet) Then deduct +/- 25% loss due to irregularity.
(12 cubic feet x .75 = 9 cubic feet) Multiply this cubic footage by
+/- 190 pounds/cubic feet to obtain the approximate weight of the boulder.
A truck load of boulders = approximately 10 ton (20,000 lb).
- Lava Rocks range 35 to 50 pounds per cubic foot
- Flagging 1" thick = about 13 pounds per square foot (approximately
150 square feet per ton)
- Flagging 1-1/2" thick = about 20 pounds per square foot (approximately
100 square feet +/- per ton)
- Belgian Block - 1 ton will cover approximately 40 square feet of paving
